More on Camden Music Festival

More on Camden Music Festival

Camden Music Trust’ Patron, David Walliams has offered tickets to the Trust for Britain’s Got Talent to assist the Charity in its fundraising efforts. Their goal is to raise money to help fund the Camden Schools Music Festival at Royal Albert Hall in March 2014 where 2,300 children from 50 Camden schools perform and help keep their Saturday Music Centres open where hundreds of young people play in bands, choirs and orchestras.

Suitcase Circus at the Royal Albert Hall

I am very excited about performing for 2400 Camden school children during their rehearsals for their fabulous music concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

Here are my comments in the programme

“I am so excited about the Camden schools music festival. I’m coming with spectacular routines from my Suitcase Circus for the 5th time. That means I’ve been helping at this fabulous event for 10 years. I love the wonderful enthusiasm from the children, everyone wants to be a volunteer and help with my performance. I’m also ready to step in and present the festival concert if John Snow gets whisked away by world events. I love introducing the marvellous array of musical talent from the children.”

I’m in at the very start of the festival, the Dawn Chorus – a performance event which starts at dawn, 5.30am.
The festival director Matt Holland says… we are an established, thriving, well-organised, and independent Festival. Our passion and founding spirit is rooted in love of the word, good reading, exploratory talk, finding out about things, making connections, and the notion that life is for learning, discoveries, and, where possible, pleasure.

Authors and speakers who have appeared at previous Festivals include David Attenborough, Ian McEwan, Andrew Motion, Germaine Greer, Melvyn Bragg, Kate Adie, Fay Weldon, Wendy Cope, Will Self, Tony Benn, Joan Bakewell, Philip Pullman, Carol Ann Duffy, Michael Morpurgo, Richard Dawkins, and Pete White Suitcase Circus!

I previously performed at the festival in 2001, and no, of course I don’t feel out of place in that list of luminaries.
